At 10:31PM JST a strong earthquake shook the Shizuoka prefecture. It was estimated to be at a depth of 10 meters but their is no risk of tsunami.

The tremors continued for about 10 seconds but no major damage has been reported.

This quake lies on a different fault line than the one that hit the Miyagi / Iwate area. No irregularities have been reported at nuclear facilities in the area. And no facilities were shutdown, which happens automatically in the event of a strong quake.

The quake could be felt in Tokyo and registered a magnitude 4 in Japan's maximum 7 scaling.
