The Yomiuri Shimbun has reported that another tsunami of the east coast of Japan remain a high risk for at least another month.

"The tectonic plate near Iwate has been but under great strain, meaning there is a chance there will be another earthquake accompanied by a tsunami in the next month," the newspaper wrote, citing the analysis of "several research institutions."

The newspaper also said that the boundary between two tectonic plates off the coast of Japan had been damaged by the earthquake of March 11, adding to the danger.

The effect would be similar to that the Meiji-Sanriku Earthquake of 1896 had on the Showa-Sanriku Earthquake of 1933.
