More than 500,000 people attended a welcome home celebration Monday in the Ginza district of Tokyo. The 2012 Olympians returned with 38 medals, the most Japan has ever gained from a Olympic game.

Japan won seven gold medals and one of the major crowd pleasures was wrestler Saori Yoshida and Kohei Uchimura who both attended Monday’s events. Nadeshiko Japan, the women’s team who won silver and a business class trip back to Japan also attended.

Uchimura, was quote by Kyodo saying “I was overwhelmed. My life as a gymnast will continue so I want people to support me until I quit.”

In total Japan’s take was seven gold medals, 14 silvers and 17 bronzes.
