TOKYO (AP) — Estonian Ozeki Baruto was presented with his first Emperor’s Cup on Sunday after winning the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament.

Baruto finished the 15-day tournament with a 14-1 record after being defeated by grand champion Hakuho of Mongolia on Sunday’s final day of competition but was in a celebratory mood after receiving the winner’s trophy.

The 27-year-old Baruto wrapped up his first career title on Friday when he improved to 13-0 and Hakuho was handed his third loss of the tournament.

Baruto became the ninth foreign-born wrestler and second from Europe after Bulgarian Kotooshu to win a championship.
