In Japan, the cafes differ from other cafes in different parts of the world. Why? Because in some Japanese cafes, you can play with cats, owls, or any other type of animal that they have in that specific cafe. For instance, there is this cafe, Yokohama Subtropic Teahouse, which looks like an ordinary cafe from the outside. But, once you step inside, you’ll be surprised by the fact that it’s packed with all sorts of reptiles varying from snakes, lizards, frogs and tortoises that customers are allowed to touch.
Reptiles are not like dogs and they shouldn’t be handled for more than 30 minutes since they can easily get stressed. However, upon entering the cafe, customers have to agree to take responsibility if they get bitten.

Some reptiles in Yokohama reptile cafe can only be seen behind a glass, but some roam freely outside so that customers can handle them.
