Japanese soccer star Shinji Kagawa returned on the pitch for his side Manchester United in style, setting up the only goal of the match at the team’s debut in the most important club competition of the world, the Champions League.
Manchester Utd. won at home by 1-0 the match against Turkish team Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.
Kagawa had missed his team’s most recent game against Wigan Athletic in the Premier League, over the weekend, due to a back injury he suffered the day before Japan’s 1-0 win against Iraq in World Cup qualifying on Sept. 11 at Saitama, Kyodo reported.
Kagawa played a short ball from the edge of the box to Michael Carrick, who went pass goalkeeper Fernando Muslera to score into an open net in the seventh minute.
Manchester Utd. is trying to improve in the Champions League, after being eliminated in the group phase of last season.
After the first round, the English side is on the second place of the group, behind Romania’s CFR Cluj, which won their away-game against Portugal’s Braga by 2-0.
