St. Valentine’s Day welcomed in Japan with exclusive offers

February 14’s St. Valentine’s Day comes this year to Japan with a range of exclusive offers from hotels, chocolate boutiques and underwear retailers, among others.

A romantic French dinner with black truffles, caviar and foie gras, priced at Y44,000 ($440) per couple will be served by the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Tokyo, while the Ritz-Carlton is offering a one night accommodation in a deluxe room, including a bath ritual, chocolate martinis and breakfast for Y60,000 ($600).

The Hilton in Osaka prepared a special dinner to be served to couples between February 10 and 14, with Italian-themed food, including foie gras, marinated berries and heart-shaped ravioli. The dinner is served at the 35th floor of the hotel.

Chocolate companies are also offering special treats, with the Takashimaya department store offering for the first time in Japan the creations of William Curley, Britain’s Best Chocolatier for five years in a row.

Last but not least, underwear maker Peach John is selling underwear set for men and women with Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse appearing on the two pairs.
