Last winter I fulfilled part of my wonderment and fascination with the Japanese high tech toilet and decided to visit its mecca – TOTO Super Space located on the 26th & 27th floor of Shinjuku’s L Tower. Not only do you get to see the latest and greatest in spray valves and talking seat covers, but you can take in the stellar view of Shinjuku as well. All for free! The TOTO showcase also features bathroom and kitchen displays, but the astounding range of toire-was top them all.
For those of you who’ve never heard of Toto, I’m not talking about the upbeat band of the late 70s / 80s (♫ I bless the rains down in Africa…♫ ). Toto Ltd., is the world’s largest toilet manufacturer, also making claims-to-fame from its patented invention, the washlet – a toilet integrated with bidet system. Most transplants to Tokyo immediately or eventually fall in love with these toire-was. Don’t deny it.

Not your average bathroom sink
So many toire-was to choose from!
