Yakuza linked to Chiba restaurant shooting

Organized crime may be involved in a restaurant shooting in Togane City, Chiba Prefecture. The police is currently investigating the incident which left a man around 60 years of age severely injured.

The shooting took place on Monday morning at the entrance of a Denny’s restaurant. The suspect is a man with closely cropped hair and wearing dark clothes, also around the age of 60.

The gunman seated with other four or five people before opening fire and shooting the victim in the chest. The injured man was taken to hospital in cardiopulmonary arrest.

It is believed that the man who was shot is a former top member of the organized crime, belonging to Sumiyoshi-kai group. The police suspects that the shooter is a former member of the Yamaguchi-gumi criminal group.
